The data posted here matches pretty well with my camera module. The measurements on the thread you’ve linked seem to be from a pre-production version (release version is 1.3).

I don’t think the foundation has any plans to change the camera. They chose it to be general purpose and to write custom drivers for it. The current capture utility is there to get people started and I’m sure other software solutions will emerge. You can stick a Pi where you wouldn’t risk your DSLR so the revolution has already started

Hi, I’d be interested to know if it’s possible for a higher MP CCD Sensor, and to have the options in the Software to be able to use the RPi with the Camera add-on like a DSLR or Hand Held Camera? I think something like this could start a new trend in Photography.

I think the latest version is 0.5.2a. Do a full update (sudo apt-get update followed by sudo apt-get upgrade). Definitely looks like you’ve got an older version.

Which version of GPIO lib you use?
Just my version does not know 3-d parameter:
GPIO.setup(CAMLED, GPIO.OUT, initial=False)
TypeError: ‘initial’ is an invalid keyword argument for this function

I am not able to turn off the led for some reason the command is in the config but just not recognizing it.

Have you completely removed the disable_cam_led line from your /boot/config.txt file?
