Raspberry Pi Used In New Point Break Movie

“Point Break” was a popular film released in 1991 starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. These days Hollywood prefers recyclingΒ to new ideas so 24 years later they are remaking it. The trailer shows a bomb with two detonators made with Raspberry Pis at the 1 minute 22 second mark.

The screens appear to be RPi Displays from Watterott Electronics encased in a TEK-BERRY clear enclosure. The prop uses the audio jack to connect the Raspberry Pi to block of C-4 explosive. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that this would be unlikely to workout in reality.

The real question is are they running Raspbian or Windows 10 IoT? What would you use?

Well… all depend if you want it to blow or not πŸ˜‰

Well why wouldn’t it blow? C4 works on electric detonation. So just set an alarm to ring at set time and boom, you’re done. Electricity from 3.5mm jack should probably be enough to set it off.

If you’re thinking about setting it off with heat, remember that soldiers used to burn blocks of C4 instead of firewood.

I’m fairly sure that you need more than 1V and few hundred mA to detonate any sort of explosive.

W10 IoT – because only a blown Windows is a good Windows. πŸ˜‰
